Probable Causes (ranked)

Fix Steps

  1. 1 Remove and reseat keypad connector — many VFD keypads are detachable
  2. 2 Try a known-good keypad from another identical drive model
  3. 3 Check if drive is still running by measuring output voltage at T1/T2/T3
  4. 4 If keypad is dead but drive runs, use commissioning software (DriveExplorer, PowerFlex tools) via USB or Ethernet as temporary interface
  5. 5 Clean keypad connector pins with isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth
  6. 6 Order replacement keypad — ensure correct part number for drive model and firmware version

Field Trick

Keep a spare keypad in your tool bag for the most common VFD brand in your plant. A dead keypad doesn't mean a dead drive — the drive is probably still running fine, you just can't see it. Plug in your spare, read the parameters, and assess from there.
